Lies from the Left – Steve Cohen (D-Memphis) Town Hall

Written by RightWingJim on August 9th, 2009

With a straight face, Steve Cohen made two comments at Saturday’s Town Hall that were flat out lies.

“If you like your coverage, you can keep your coverage.”
Wrong Steve. Well, technically right. You can keep it for now. But change jobs and you’re in the government plan. The one that Steve isn’t going to be on. The one no government employee is going to be on.

“The CBO has said this is budget neutral.”
Wrong Steve. That’s why we booed you. You say you’ve read the bill. Try reading this:
http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/104xx/doc10464/hr3200.pdf

I’ll give you the short version.  In the BEST scenario, we’re only out about a quarter of a trillion dollars. That’s $239,000,000,000.  It makes you think about it when you write out the actual zeros. Here’s the actual quote from the CBO blog on the subject:

According to CBO’s and JCT’s assessment, enacting H.R. 3200 would result in a net increase in the federal budget deficit of $239 billion over the 2010-2019 period. That estimate reflects a projected 10-year cost of the bill’s insurance coverage provisions of $1,042 billion, partly offset by net spending changes that CBO estimates would save $219 billion over the same period, and by revenue provisions that JCT estimates would increase federal revenues by about $583 billion over those 10 years.

Oh, and there’s this little nugget:

In addition, the figures do not include certain costs that the government would incur to administer the proposed changes and the impact of the bill’s provisions on other federal programs…

We all know what happens to government programs. They grow. Especially when it’s free money for so many.  The reason you were booed is because you flat-out lied to our faces. Let’s have an honest debate, which means truth.  Perhaps YOU should be taking the aspirin instead of drinking the koolaid, Mr. Cohen.

It was also very interesting to note that we saw one homemade sign supporting Obamacare. Every other one. EVERY OTHER ONE was a printed out sign, most of which were the same as others in the hall. Some of which I saw being handed out outside the hall. Yeah, you look real spontaneous there on the left. On the other hand, ever anti-healthcare cramdown poster or sign was made by hand.

Hmm… sounds familiar. Those that want from the government getting a handout, those that want to provide for themselves doing the work by hand.

Ronald Reagan on Socialized Medicine

Thank God for audio recordings. And thank you to wyattmcintyre for the youtube post.

This is worth the 10 minutes of your time, and the extra minute to tweet, facebook, email or call your coworker over to hear as well.

got buyer’s remorse yet?

Written by RightWingJim on August 7th, 2009

OK, this is going out to my Democrat friends. Not my liberal friends. You guys are too far gone. I’m talking to those who tend to vote Democrat, or who grew up Democrat and see themselves as Democrat “for the most part”.

It’s OK. You can admit it. You got sold a bill of goods my friend.

Tell me, is this the kind of “hope” and “change” you were looking for?

And with so many people coming together in a true grass roots effort to hold our representatives’ feet to the fire on this out of control spending and takeover of our healthcare, it has come to truth squads and actual top-level organized counteractions?

(dear white house truth squad following the link in here. Just wanted to say “hi”! Oh, yeah, and KEEP YOUR DAMNED HANDS OFF OF MY MONEY!)

So, back to you. I know it’s hard to admit it, but we’re a welcoming bunch you know. Just help us get the country back. We know you were embarrassed about that whole Carter thing, but remember that gave us Reagan. And despite what the media keeps trying to promote, he was one of the most popular presidents across the board, even with you. We desperately need a Reagan, but first we desperately need you to join us in holding this government off long enough so that they don’t take away so many liberties that we can’t fight back.

We know this isn’t what you were going for. We know you bought the hype about George W. Bush and I’ll even grant you a difference of opinion. And after all, McCain certainly didn’t make you want to jump ship like Reagan did. We understand.

But you got a little concerned when you saw promise after broken promise (and more on the way). And you see what’s happening now and the thuggery that is going on.

Join us at the town hall meetings and let it be known you are a Democrat. Write your representatives and let them know they will not have your vote again if they continue down this road. We’ll agree to disagree on policy and position, but not on the principles this country was founded on and the liberties we (currently) enjoy. We agree that America is great and agree we cannot allow it to drown in the muck that is happening now.

Join us.

Our Girl Michelle exposes the enemy

Written by RightWingJim on August 6th, 2009

Michelle Malkin – whom I will once again muster the strength not to ask to marry in such a public forum – has excerpted from her book “Culture of Corruption” to shed light on those that we in the “angry mob” are about to face head on.

Prepare yourselves. Know your enemy. Do not back down.

Private Sector “Stimulus Plan”? You mean “the free market”?!

Written by RightWingJim on August 6th, 2009

Looks like some auto dealers have done what they should have done in the first place – launched their own “stimulus plan.” In most parts of the world and even in the U.S. of A. this is known as a “sale”.   A “sale” happens when sales are slow. Turns out the one forced on us by the government worked!  Except that it wasn’t so much of a “sale” as it was “legalized theft”, but that’s a different blog post.

So tell me again, if they could have done this on their own, why did we foot the bill? And why are we footing another one? Personally, I’m running out of feet – and the hands are next.

Cash for Clunkers – A Preview of Gub’ment Healthcare

Written by RightWingJim on August 5th, 2009

Cash for Clunkers is a failure indeed. Since when is the government taking billions from us to help others buy something a success? When people take advantage of it? “Take advantage” is the key term there as we have all been taken advantage of. And we’re about to be again to the tune of another 2 billion (that’s 2,000,000,000 folks), thanks to the government the people have given themselves. Thanks, Dems. Thanks “moderates”. Thanks McCainiacs.

And let’s not even think about what happens in a couple of years when those who couldn’t afford a new car in the first place start defaulting on those loans. Housing crisis redux anyone?

But more importantly, this program is a model for what will happen with government socialized healthcare. The “public option” that isn’t actually an option will be exactly like this.

Let’s begin with the “Cash for Clunkers” thought process.

“I have a car that works just fine. Sure, it could get better mileage. Sure, it takes a quart of oil here and there. Sure, it costs a few hundred every few months for some part that’s worn out. The fuel gauge doesn’t work but I don’t need to replace it since I know I can go about 250 miles on a tank and then I need to gas up again. Wait, what? I can get free money from Obama to get a new car? I can’t really afford it, and probably shouldn’t do it. But free money? Might as well!”

So an overwhelming number of people – more than the government thought – would go through that same process. Keep in mind that without the government taking from the people and giving to these they likely wouldn’t have made that purchase. After all, if they could have, they already would have. Let’s go back to that phrase up there, “more than the government thought.” It’s gonna be real important in a bit.

Now, put that same person in the position of having their own healthcare or none at all. Very likely they have chosen not to have healthcare if they don’t already. Here goes the same thought process down the same path:

“I’m not feeling so good today. It’s not terrible. I can live with it. It’s just a little fever or cold and will go away with some rest and some Tylenol. Wait, I have free healthcare from Obama? I’ll go see the doctor! I’m sure he’ll prescribe something but that doesn’t matter, someone else will pay for it. While I’m at it I need to have my eyes checked and get some new glasses. Hey, ain’t this healthcare thing great?”

And people nationwide “take advantage” of the opportunity to suckle at the government teat, with milk stolen from me and my family. And don’t forget, it will be “more than the government thought”. Time and time again, initial estimates from the government fall far below what the actual cost ends up being. And this estimate is already a doosy. It’s estimated to cost one trillion (that’s $1,000,000,000,000) over the next ten years – and that only reduces the non-insured by one-third! Note that that estimate from the CBO doesn’t actually include all of the costs of the bill.

So, forget “Cash for Clunkers”. We’re only talking about a few billion. Wait, let’s just consider the first billion that should have been enough, right? The socialized healthcare bill being rammed down our throats is one thousand times larger. But that’s the first estimate remember? So multiply it times three for the actual cost. And it only does one third of the job Obama and the liberal congress wants it to do. So multiply times three again for the poor folks that still need the coverage. Now we’re up to about ten trillion. Let’s see that again just to know what we’re in for:

10,000,000,000,000

But “trillions” are so hard to get one’s head around. I give you two helpful notes.

That’s $32,888 for every man, woman and child in what is currently the United States of America. Of course, we know they all don’t pay income taxes.

And here’s a beautiful rendition of the size of a trillion dollars.

National Debt Road Trip

Written by RightWingJim on July 29th, 2009

Holy wow.  Just got this via twitter from @Bob_Schaffer and it should be seen by everyone, especially that liberal Obamite sitting  a few desks away that kept harping about our national debt under George W. Bush, who admittedly spent like a drunken sailor and allowed the Congress to spend like a boatload of drunken sailors in port for the weekend.   And if that’s the case, then this President with this Congress is akin to a fleet on leave.  Thanks for the follow, Bob.
