R.I.P. Nobel Prize

If the 2007 Nobel “Peace” Prize to Albert Gore or environmental alarmism wasn’t enough to do it in, then this is certainly the death blow to the Nobel Prize. That, or we’ve run out of accomplishments and now we must all praise and reward potential.

“The Nobel Peace Prize goes to President Barack Obama “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

That’s right. A Nobel for efforts. Not that there have actually been any real “efforts” either. There’s been talk of “hope” and of “change” but North Korea and now Iran are moving forward with nuclear proliferation, further endangering the lives of millions around the globe.

As Michelle Malkin wrote, it’s another testament to Obama’s “story” rather than any accomplishment.

Further, the Nobel site takes part in the hype by posting a poll asking if I know about Barack Obama’s efforts for a nuclear free world? I answered “yes” but couldn’t find the place to explain the ridiculousness of the “hope”. Where’s the poll asking if I think Barack Obama or my Great-Grandmother will have more influence on world peace? Or are the White House bloggers now working for the Nobel organization?

Is it too much to ask for there to be some actual movement toward peace rather than hope for it? The good news is, this heightens everyone’s chances for being a future Nobel Prize winner.

Dear Nobel Prize Committee,

I wish we could create true sustainable and cheap cold fusion that would safely power everything forever.

Me

OK, I guess I should start working on my acceptance speech. You know where to reach me.
