I’m In Love with Ann McElhinney

Written by RightWingJim on July 29th, 2010

If you watch one movie this year, make it “Avatar”.

You’d expect a line like that to come from a liberal, but you’d be wrong. That’s a quote from Ann McElhinney at RightOnline 2010.  And I love her.

Watch 15 minutes and 22 seconds of the best conservative speech of the year at RedState.

But what we have found is that liberals, are in every other room in your house. They’re in the fridge. They’re in your car. They’re in your air miles. They’re in your clothes. They’re in your hair. They’re in your cleaning products, and your washing machine and the refrigerator. They’re all over the place! And they’re in your light bulb! And I want to say them .. This is America! Get out of my light bulb!!

We were inspired. Who wouldn’t be? Check out the “Stay out of my lightbulbs!” stickers and other gear in our shop.

One-time Reid Supporter’s Dying Wish

Written by RightWingJim on July 17th, 2010

“Please, in lieu of flowers, vote for another more worthy candidate.”

From the Las Vegas Review Journal we get word that one Charlotte McCourt, long time supporter of Dingy Harry Reid, or her family left this sentiment in her obituary.

More lovely parting words we could not imagine.  We hope you will indeed rest in peace, Miss Charlotte.

Obama Administration to Launch 5 More Lawsuits?

Written by RightWingJim on July 17th, 2010

If consistency is anything - which it never is in politics - the Obama administration had better hire some more attorneys general. They are going to need to if they are to bring similar lawsuits to the 5 other states with similar immigration laws as Arizona.

Principles vs. Posturing

Written by RightWingJim on June 29th, 2010

There’s a time and place for principles - all the time and any place.

But when posturing takes on the visage of principles, it hurts everyone on our side of the political spectrum.

School officials in Houma, LA (That’s Louisiana folks, not Los Angeles) are considering requiring commencement speeches to be in English (here). Sounds like a decent principle, right?

What prompted this action? Some young hispanic student must have delivered their commencement speech in Spanish just to prove a political point, right? Wrong.

Cindy Vo, the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants, spoke one line of her portion of the commencement speech in Vietnamese for her parents who speak no English. She then translated the line into English for her fellow students.

A child of legal immigrants who rises to the top of her class and then honors her parents with a special line in her moment off glory is something we should all celebrate, not use for political fodder.  There were no students sitting in bewilderment as a 10 minute speech rambled on in some foreign language. If there were, there would be reason to understand an “English only” policy.

Rickie Pitre, David Bourg, I don’t know your politics, but I do know that making proposals or suggestions that this is something that needs to be “fixed” is damaging to anyone that makes a serious “English only” argument when and where it is for the good of the people, not the good of the politician’s interest.

Cindy and Hue Vo - and parents - ốt công việc (if that came out right, that’s “good job” for those of you reading along in English.)

I said the “N-word”

Written by RightWingJim on April 28th, 2010

Since the claims of “teabaggers” hurling racial slurs at senators have yet to be proven true, I thought I’d just go ahead and get it out there. You know, the “N-word”. We’ve all been saying it so I’ll just say it out loud.

November.

There. I said it. And I’ll say it again. You’re going to be hearing “November” said louder and louder all over this country. It feels good. Go ahead and say it. Not in your head - out loud.

November.

November!

(Almost) Time to Put Away Childish Things

Written by RightWingJim on February 9th, 2010

In President Barack Obama’s inaugural address, he said “the time has come to set aside childish things“.

Apparently White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs didn’t get the memo. In a briefing that just followed a surprise visit from the Man himself, Gibbs resorted to mockery usually found in a third grader to poke fun of Sarah Palin’s use of crib notes on her hand. Yes, politics is a tough game, and Mrs. Palin already showed her steely nature by poking fun of herself by writing “Hi Mom” on her hand for an appearance for Texas Governor Rick Perry. However, these kinds of games are unbecoming of the office of the President, which is what Mr. Gibbs represents.

Keeping score: Obama 0, Truth 2

Written by RightWingJim on January 29th, 2010

After all, after the now famous “You Lie!” incident, President Obama knew he had the upper hand on the battle for public truth. After all, Rep. Joe Wilson R-(SC) was right. But you wouldn’t know that from the media outcry that was targeted at the “rudeness” of Rep. Wilson instead of the falsehood uttered by our nation’s leader. With the media firmly behind him, BHO now had carte blanche to at the least stretch the truth if not outright lie. BHO knew there would be no such outcry in this speech.

So, in typical form, our fearless teacher scolded one of the most sacred institutions in the land, the Supreme Court. In doing so, it turns out that once again, “He Lied!” only this time, the response came in Justice Samuel Alito’s mouthing of the words “not true“.

More than one pundit/expert/historian would call it “rude” but they have to admit that he was also right. It just so happens that every word uttered by BHO regarding this ruling was wrong.

Oh, and where are the mainstream media concerns about the rudeness of the president attacking the Supreme Court in such a way? If you don’t like the strikedown, change the law. But that law comes directly from the Constitution. Watch out, sacred document. Looks like you’re next.
